Satu Maria Kolehmainen
I am a musician, composer, community artist and a music teacher originally from Oulu, currently settled in Kirkkonummi Finland. My instruments are the saxophones, piano/ keyboards and cello. I graduated as a pop-jazz musician in 2008, majoring in tenor saxophone. After this I have worked as a saxophone teacher in Central Ostrobothnia Conservatory, Central Ostrobothnia Community College, Kaustinen Music School, and also as a private piano and saxophone teacher. Since 2006 I have also worked as a freelance musician in various events, theaters and festivals, as well as recorded music e.g. with a reggae band called Kaemo.
I have composed music for theatrical performances and collaborated with dancers in the framework of my piece entitled "Suite Del Ristoro". I've also worked as a community artist in an artist residency program at Kirkkonummen Kipinä, where I produced an interactive multimedia art exhibition called “Tone tales, composing lives - living compositions” . The project also resulted in my first single “Sea Voyage”, which takes its listener to a marine musical journey.
